Sister Spotlight: Kristen Dodd

Kristen Dodd is a sophomore majoring in hospitality and tourism, and a member of PC'20. She has a bright light that shines for our entire chapter! When asked about what led her to Ball State, she shared that it was mainly because of its great location. "Ball State was one hour away from my home so I could be on my phone yet close enough to home to go home when I want. I also like it because Ball State isn’t as big as IU but not as small as Anderson it’s a good medium size." Outside of AOII, Kristen is involved in numerous other activities. "Outside of AOII I worked most of the summer and I was happy to find out I could transfer to the location in Muncie (TJMaxx) I couple days a week. I would like to get involved with volleyball Intramural. I played volleyball the last four years of high school!" Though she now majors in hospitality and tourism, she didn't start out that way. "I started in elementary education. Quickly decided I was not excited about continuing down the path. At Jamba Juice I had lunch with a sorority sister we sat down and we talked about my skills values interest in my personality, I researched the major hospitality and tourism and decided that fit me perfectly so I changed it immediately." Despite being initiated into AOII during a pandemic, Kristen has made the most of her time in Kappa Kappa. "Unfortunately my first year in a sorority was in the middle of a pandemic and I’m glad we were able to have some events in person. I have been known as a 'quiet girl' . I knew a sorority would help me get out of my comfort zone." Kristen said. "When I joined AOII my life changed for the better. Everyone has been so patient and kind. I have new friends in a support system stronger than I could have ever imagined. I am so excited to be a part of AOII which has helped me make the changes in my life, and I will not miss out on experiences and opportunities!" One of Kristen's favorite memories in AOII so far has been the senior tea last semester. "It was amazing to be a part of such a big event in AOII." Kristen shared, "I really feel honored to be in such an amazing organization and be able to share it with so many wonderful girls!"
