Kassie Wade is a senior at Ball State University, majoring in Elementary Education and Special Education.
Kassie began her collegiate career searching for a school to major in music education. She looked at some schools, such as Butler and Bellarmine, but ultimately ended up at Ball State. She loved how big it was compared to some of the private schools she looked at, plus the music education program was exactly what she was looking for. Ultimately, her freshman year, she ended up changing it to dual elementary and special education. After that fall semester, Kassie realized she wanted to be a teacher but didn’t want to end up in an environment where others didn’t fully enjoy what music has to offer like she did.
Kassie is a girl of many interests. She absolutely loves to play her ukulele. Kassie described that she’s, “Currently learning to play the guitar...kinda sorta.” Alongside her musical inclinations, she loves to sing and especially loves music she can sing along to. When asked about the music she likes, Kassie responded, “Music? Oh, I like everything.” From jazz to new wave pop, she is a versatile gal.
Day to day, she loves seeking out activities that better improve her mind, body, and soul. Kassied described that she loves hiking, saying she is a, “Big hiking gal.” During the wintertime, she also loves to knit hats. Her guiltiest pleasures are coffee, Gossip Girl, and New Girl.
Kassie is proud to share that she has continued to maintain her Dean’s List status throughout her collegiate career. She is proud of the woman she has become. She described how proud she is that she has made it this far and has stayed motivated. She loves her continuous journey to happiness and often wakes up, everyday, relishing in how she has accomplished it.
Kassie loves AOII because it has brought her to some of her favorite people in her life, such as her friends and roommates. Kassie has sought out many leadership opportunities through AOII, describing, “I have got to express my leadership in ways that have been tailored to me.” She loved getting to be Song Leader for the chapter as it brought her another opportunity to teach and interact with music. She loves being Keeper of Ritual as she has been able to help find women find their own connections to our chapter.
