Ashley Gable is a senior at Ball State University, majoring in Elementary Education.
Ashley began her collegiate career by exploring her university options. At first, she wanted to attend Purdue University. It made sense to her as she grew up in a small town right outside of Purdue, her dad went to Purdue, her mom works at the university, and practically everyone she graduated with attended Purdue. However, Ashley wanted to separate herself and do some growing and exploring on her own. She toured universities but ultimately fell in love with Ball State. Originally, her major was nursing, but then she switched to child life. Still, she just didn’t have her heart set on the path she was pursuing. Through multiple aptitude test, she discovered teaching was at the top. She immediately took the appropriate steps to change her major and the rest was history.
Ashley loves photography. Whenever she has free time, she can be seen with a camera in hand. She currently runs a photography Instagram to capture, “love, friendships, family, and furry animals.” Ashley is the proud cat mom to her four legged child Milo. When she was on her own for the first time, she knew she wanted a furry friend to keep her company. She wasn’t originally going to take Milo home, but she was the only one who came to greet her. Since that day, Ashley has found a support system in Milo. Ashley’s other hobbies and interests include loving on her two dogs, fall, warm fuzzy socks, painting, Disney, donuts, and Friends.
Ashley is proud to share that she has received her student teaching placement! She will be teaching second grade at Clinton Central School Corporation in Michigantown, Indiana. She is nervous with the new barriers COVID-19 presents, however, we all know Ashley will be successful!
Ashley loves AOII because she feels, “…unconditional love and acceptance from the women around me I get to call sisters.” Ashley is proud of the lifelong friendships, opportunities, and personal growth being a member of Kappa Kappa has provided her. She has loved gaining the confidence through love and sisterhood to step out of her comfort zone and experience college with women that support her. She is, “…forever grateful for the women of Kappa Kappa. They’ve given me more than I could ever imagine.”
