Ally General is a Sophomore at Ball State University. She is a part of PC’18 and is an Advertising major with a concentration in Media Presentation and Design and holds a minor in Fashion.

Beginning her collegiate career, she attended Columbia College Chicago. She loves her city, Chicago, and decided to commute her first year. It wasn’t quite what she was looking for, so when she attended family weekend for her brother in 2017 she fell in love with Ball State.

Ally found a love for advertising through videography and photography. In high school, she took broadcasting. This was student run and Ally acted as the executive producer. She loved the opportunity and was really good at it, yet she didn’t want to limit herself. That’s why Ally chose advertising because she feels as though it is a combination of so many different things. Currently, Ally is a designer for McKinley Avenue. Next year, she is getting promoted to Creative Director, which will put her in charge of overseeing all creative fields in the agency. Her dream job would be being able to work herself up in an agency in Chicago. Eventually, she would love to open up her very own cafe gallery.

Ally is a proud ferret mom. She got her first ferret when she was 16. Her boyfriend always joked with her that she would become a cat lady, but Ally adamantly said, “No buddy, I have to become a ferret lady.” She had ventured to the pet store and got her first ferret, Noodle. “He was just so perfect,” Ally described. Later on, her boyfriend had gotten two more ferrets. Unfortunately one of them passed away, so just this past week he got another one. She didn’t want her ferret,Noodle, to feel left out, so she got Ozzy.

In the past, Ally was historian. Ally described, “I’ve always been a person who likes to be involved in leadership roles.” She believed that becoming historian was a great way to step into LC. Ally doesn’t care about leadership roles on her resume, rather, she “wanted to help build up our sisterhood.” Ally is now VP of Chapter Development for Kappa Kappa. Ally described that, “The past three VPCD’s have been my biggest role models. It’s hard right now because sisterhood is spread throughout the country.” Despite the limitations, that doesn’t stop Ally from embracing our sisterhood and creating ways for sisters to still interact. Ally explained that, “I even got onto Mario kart with my little, Emme, Meghan Newhart, and Gwen, our amazing VP Comm.” Ally loves being able to help build our chapter’s sisterhood, but she doesn’t take credit. Ally explained, “I can incorporate sisterhood as much as I need in the chapter, but at the end of the day it’s them. I’m a very proud VPCD, that’s for sure.”

Ally has a few guilty pleasures. She really enjoys the show Outlander. She found that she was Scottish and it made her connect and love the show even more. Ally is an avid reader and loves to journal. If she didn’t journal, her thoughts would continue to run wild in her head. Her biggest hobby, however, is to plan things. Ally described her love for planning out her days, explaining, “The amount of to-do lists I do on a daily basis is absolutely absurd.”

As for AOII, when Ally went through recruitment, she kept getting drawn back to the idea of wanting to get to know Kappa Kappa. Ally described that although she loved every single chapter during recruitment, “AOII’s room was something completely different.” When reflecting upon her AOII journey, one individual stuck out to Ally: Kelly Asiala. Ally described, “She made me feel okay for being me.” During recruitment, Ally was stressed out, between being a new transfer, having no new friends, and living on campus away from home, everything was completely new to her. Now, she exclaimed, “I can’t even think of joining anyone else.”

Ally loves her Greek family. Her GBig was her rosebud and her big was her little’s rosebud. It’s become a Greek family tradition. She absolutely loves her Greek Family and couldn’t imagine being without theme. Ally is really close with her little, describing her as, “my child.”

Ally lives with sisters in Muncie. She described, “My roommates completely changed the game for me. Even though it’s quarantine, we are going to be together...I’m really excited for that.”

Ally admires and loves PC’19 so much after their Panda Passing. Ally said, “It is insane how much they love this chapter.” Currently, Ally is really missing Kappa Kappa. Ally described, “Every Sunday would be the day where I would walk in the room and be like, this is where I need to be, I can leave all my worries outside.” She really misses being able to hug and see everyone in person. She described that, “AOII has made me a crier, so I know when I get to see them again I’m going to be sobbing.”

The love and dedication that Ally has towards Kappa Kappa is amazing. Ally explained that, “AOII is just a feeling. A feeling of hope, love, and everything good at Ball State.”
