Bri is a sophomore Elementary Education Major at Ball State University. Bri discussed that she originally wanted to pursue social work and work with women and children who are victims of domestic violence, however, due to the nature of the work, she decided she wanted to still help others, but in a slightly different way. Bri cadet taught her senior year alongside her old 5th grade teacher. She really loved it and fell in love with education, which lead her to pursuing Elementary Education and minoring in Gifted and Talented. Bri loves to work with students who are low socioeconomic status and she's very interested in practicing culturally responsive teaching. She has been on the deans list all three semesters and is loving her major. Her dream job would be becoming a principal. She also really loves animals and would love to be a vet, however, Bri described that she's, "...not good at science, not good at math, so that wasn't gonna happen."
Bri is Kappa Kappa's VP of Standards. I had the opportunity to inquire on why she ran for VP of Standards. Bri's past big, Sian, was VP of Standards, as well as her past orientation leader Bailey. She looks up to fellow sister Bailey and Sian and saw how much they soared in the position. She feels as though in the past, standards has been typically been viewed with a negative connotation. She wants to help the chapter and, "be a part of something bigger than just being a member." Bri loves to have things organized and so far is doing spectacular as our VP of Standards.
Bri currently has many binge-worthy television shows she enjoys. She loves Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, That 70s Show, anything Quentin Tarantino, and has a love for kids movies. Bri is an animal lover, having a cat, four dogs, and a pond of fish. Currently in Muncie, she has a fish and a snail. I had asked her if she considers herself a cat mom, to which she responded, "She's my child!"Bri's favorite place is Michigan or the Cincinnati Zoo. Her favorite animal to see is Fiona the Hippo or aardvarks.
Bri loves to plant. Her favorite is succulents. Bri explained how her and her dad have a small greenhouse in her garage back at home. Over the summer, Bri even had the opportunity to make succulent arrangements and sell them for profit!
Bri loves AOII because, "We just give off such positive energy all the time. People are listening and engaged...Every time I walk into a room with AOII's everyone just radiates good energy...You just feel so different. Like a weight is taken off my shoulders." She loves how the women of Kappa Kappa are goofy, uplifting, and not afraid to be themselves.
Fun fact about Bri? She has a metal spine! She wore a back brace for awhile before she had to had major back surgery. Don't worry about flying with her, though, because she doesn't beep at airports!
Show Bri some love by following her on Instagram!
