This past Saturday was Ball State's annual Dance Marathon for Riley's Children Hospital. Many of our sisters were involved, whether they were dancers, involved on morale or a committee member, or even the President of DM.
All together, BSUDM raised $653,011.23 For the Kids!
This was my first year doing Dance Marathon and I have been thinking a lot as to why I DM, apart from the obvious "For the Kids."

My family has had experience with Riley's Children Hospital and my brother was a Riley's kid when he was little after he fell in a fire during a camping trip. Thankfully, he fully recovered, but the staff at Riley's really took great care of him.
I also DM because this hospital offers unrivaled care for it's patients and their families. Without support from DM, I believe that they wouldn't have all of the resources they currently have to do such an amazing job of taking care of the kiddos.
Many other sisters participated in Dance Marathon this year as well. Here are some of their reasons about why they DM!

"I DM for the kids at Riley Hospital for Children who are being treated for diseases with no answers and cancers with no cures. I DM for the parents who watch their child suffer. I DM for the siblings who are too often forgotten. I DM so that one day there will be enough - enough hope, enough awareness, and enough funds. And always I DM for Izzy, who is one of too many suffering from one of those cancers with no cure.” ~Marlee Jacocks, Co-Director of Recruitment
“I DM to make a difference.” ~Rachel Turner

“I DM because I love kids and it’s been awesome being here and seeing how happy they are… that it truly is impacting a kid.” ~Adie Yost
“I DM because if what I do benefits one child, it’s worth it.” ~Haley Raber

“I DM because I cannot wait to be a pediatric nurse and help kids just like the ones at the marathon.” ~Bailey Filipiak
“I was in the hospital a lot as a child. It motivated me to be a nurse and I wanted to raise money for Riley kids.”
~Cece Castillo

"I DM to bring more joy to the world. BSUDM is so special in the fact that its main purpose is to fundraise for programs at Riley that are meant to bring joy and ease to the kids and families going through such a difficult time. Being a little part of making a kids’ life just a little bit happier is worth all the hard work and time.” ~Kirsten Smigiel
